| Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
Question 1. Do you offer a money back guarantee?
Yes. Return your kit to us within 30 days and receive a full refund.
Use all the materials you need...there is no penalty for
material use. |
 |
Question 2. Do you offer technical support?
Call 8 - 5 pm Pacific for all technical issues. |
 |
Question 3. Where do I go for refills?
Order directly from us via phone. Each 1.5 oz.
bottle of paint is $13. Paint Leveler is $20 for 16 oz.
The other materials (thinner, reducer, wax/greaser remover,
etc.) can be bought at local auto parts stores. |
 |
Question 4.
What kind of paint is this?
PPG urethane basecoat. |
 |
Question 5. How do I learn to use the kit?
A full color 35 page manual includes photos of common scratch and chip types and
how to repair them. Included are instructions on how to
sell the service, what % visual improvement you can expect from touchup, and what price to charge for the repair. |
 |
Question
6. Exactly how are the ScratchOut kit and Mini
kit different?
The Mini kit does not include: pre-cleaner (wax/grease
remover), thinner, reducer, gloss additive, filler putty, and
excess paint remover (Paint Leveler). You can buy all of
these items at an auto parts store...except for the Paint
Leveler. Paint Leveler allows you to repair road rash
(thousands of tiny chips that make the front end of a car look
sandblasted). We only sell Paint Leveler to owners of the
full ScratchOut kit, so you will not be able to repair road rash
with the Mini kit. |
 |
Question
7.
Are the repairs permanent?
As long as the repair area is clean (no dirt, wax, or grease), ScratchOut paint is permanent and will not wash or chip away. |
 |
Question
8.
What is the shelf life of the paint?
The caps on our paint bottles are air tight. We have
paint touch up systems
as old as 5 years old with still-fresh paint. However, if
the cap on a bottle is left open, the contents will dry up in 7
- 21 days. |
 |
Question
9.
Why should I invest in a paint touch up system?
Customers demand
it! Minor paint damage is such a common irritant--almost
every car with at least 5000 miles has a few scratches and rock
chips. They have tried touch up themselves, but get
"blobby" results and are happy to pay $30 - $50 for professional
quality repairs that improve minor paint damage without having
to pay body shops $400 per panel for resprays. |
 |
Question
10.
How was this kit developed?
We used to operate
a busy mobile touch up and auto body repair business. Half
our work was respraying bumper damage. The other half was
simple brush touch ups of chips and scratches. Our touch
up process was slow and wasteful. We were spending up to
10 minutes finding a car's paint code and mixing 6+ toners on a
scale to the hundreth of a gram, then using about 5% of the
paint on the repair and discarding the rest. We decided to
make a faster and more efficient system just for brush touch
ups.
The color deck system we developed eliminates the need to use
manufacturers' codes and large, expensive ($3000) paint mixing
systems from Standox, PPG, or DuPont. Over 24 months of
using the ScratchOut system "in the field" we perfected a
compact, fast, and effective system that served our customers
with top quality repairs and saved our company significant time
and materials. We brought our touch up system to the
market in late 2005 and have helped detailers, dealers, rental
companies, PDR techs, interior techs, and touch up techs add
this in-demand service to their businesses. |

Question
11.
Why should I choose your touch up system?
The ScratchOut kit
was created to improve on existing systems in 3 ways:
cost, simplicity, and speed of repairs. Our price is 40 -
80% less than our competitors...just Google them.
By creating the eye
match color chart, we eliminated the complex process of finding
paint codes, querying paint formulas on laptops or microfiche,
and pouring out 7 different paint toners onto a scale to the
hundreth of a gram. This "old way" of doing things is so
complicated that owners avoid using the system and teaching it
to employees. It is necessary for spray repairs, but
overkill for simple brush touch ups.
Finally, our
streamlined process reduces repair times by as much as 70%
because we have eliminated the process of finding the car's
paint code and mixing up to 7 bottles in small quantities to
arrive at a final color match. Our premixed color system
and everything-in-one-box approach allows you to preclean the
damage, perform repairs, and clean up your materials faster than
any other kit on the market, yet still deliver repairs of equal
quality. |
 |
Question 12.
How do you get the colors to match?
Choose a color chip from the color deck, which
contains 100 colors. The chip contains mixing instructions
(ie, 10 drops of RED02 and 10 drops of RED03). 90% of the
time, you'll have a perfect color match. 10% of the time,
you'll have to tint your paint lighter or darker by adding the
next closest formula on the color deck. We describe this
thoroughly in the instruction manual. |
 |
Question 13.
Can you really match the quality of a traditional $2500+
toner-based system with your premixed system?
For touch up purposes, yes. Toner based systems are essentially
spray repair systems dumbed-down for touch up. We removed
their complexity and cost yet still deliver the same quality of
repair. In fact, we proved this for several years in the
field; when we switched to our premixed system, our dealers
never noticed a difference.
